The City of Sheffield is situated in the county of South Yorkshire on the east side of the Peak District National Park in the heart of England. It is the only UK city that as a National Park within it's boundary and is known as England's greenest city with 150 woodlands and 50 public parks. With a population of approx 520,000 people, it's the seventh largest urban city in England.
It is easily accessible via the road network with the M1 Motorway only 5-10 minutes drive from the city centre and for the rail travellers, the north to south rail link enables quick and easy access to London within 3 hours. For those who want to explore the beautiful, scenic countryside of the Peak District National Park, local buses run services from the town centre or alternatively you could be enjoying the sites of the surrounding countryside from any district of Sheffield with just a short 5 - 15 minutes drive.
Sheffield is well renowned for it's steel and cutlery industry, but these have been in decline for a number of years and now the city as gone through a huge redevelopment phase and as diversified into many other business markets.
The most famous being that of the Meadowhall Shopping Mall which attracts millions of people every year from all of England's central counties. Sheffield has also grown into one of England's best sports facility venues, with the Sheffield Arena, Don Valley Athletics Stadium, Ponds Forge Swimming pool and The Crucible Theatre all staging top sports events.
